Mardave Super 7

Cooling the Mardave 7 - Pictures will follow!
As you have probably found out there isn’t much room under the shell of the 7, which causes a problem for cooling the motor. Large heat sinks that you can fit on the V12 will not fit under the 7’s clothes, and a small heat sink isn’t that effective. You could always keep the gearing low so the motor doesn’t get hot, but that looses all important speed, or do the following simple retrofit vent:
- -Firstly you need to find a plastic spoon, preferably a desert spoon as teaspoons are a bit small. -Cut off the handle and sand to shape. You have to be careful as the plastic can snap really easily. I used a hot knife to cut the spoon and 240 grit sandpaper to shape it. Then remove the sharp edges with some fine wet & dry. -Smooth off the base, this makes sure there is a good contact area for gluing. -Make a paper or card template of the foot print of your vent, draw round it but cut it out 2-3mm inside the line. -Position the template on the body so it is central and the front edge is approx 3-4mm behind the dashboard and mark round it. -Cut out the body to the template with a craft knife, but please DO NOT cut your fingers off as it makes a horrible mess and you won’t be able to hold your transmitter! Make sure you don’t cut outside the line as you will not have anything to stick the vent to, remember: measure twice, cut once. -Using super glue, stick the vent into position and that’s it!
If you are using the lexan or the carbon effect ABS body shells you will need to paint the vent before you stick it on, but make sure you remove any paint from the bottom edge so it doesn’t effect the glue.
If you are using the white ABS body then glue it on before you paint your body then it will match your paint scheme.
